5 Fun Things To Do In Cabo San Lucas

Located at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Mexico. Make the most of your visit with 5 fun things to do in Cabo San Lucas:

1) Enjoy the local cuisine. When you’re looking for Cabo San Lucas restaurants be sure to explore “Restaurant Row” where you will find a wide variety of seafood restaurants, Mexican restaurants, Italian restaurants and other fine dining cuisine. For instance, you can always find the fresh catch of the day at La Galeria Restaurant, a unique fusion of Mexican, European, Asian and American flavors.

2) Bask on the beach. Have fun in the sun on any or all of the following beaches in Cabo San Lucas:

  • Medano Beach (Playa El Médano), the safest beach for swimming which also makes it the most popular beach in Cabo.
  • Lover's Beach (Playa del Amor), which you can access via a water taxi from Cabo San Lucas Marina. Watch the waves though. In fact, it is only safe to swim or snorkel on the Sea of Cortex side of Lover’s Beach.
  • Divorce Beach, featuring a stretch of clean white sand that is ideal for sunbathing but stay out of the water as it is far too dangerous for swimming.
  • Solmar Beach (Playa Solmar, TerraSol & Finisterra Beach), a beautiful white sandy beach but again, o ne on which the water is too dangerous to swim.
  • Old Lighthouse Beach (Playa El Faro Viejo), which is somewhat inaccessible these days, though you can drive a car almost all the way to the lighthouse where the view of towering sand dunes is one you will not forget.

3) Go snorkeling and scuba diving. Look for octopus, sea slugs, sea horses, frogfish, gorgonians and sea fans at the Pelican Rock/Sand Fall. Watch for eels, pufferfish, boxfish, stone fish and trigger fish at the North Wall. Look for sea fans, with rays, tuna, bonitas and groupers at the Middle Wall. Watch for sting rays, diamond sting rays, guitarfish, flatfish, barracuda, big eye jacks and pompanos at Neptune's Finger. And at Land's End be on the lookout for garden eels, guitarfish, turtles, sea bass, parrotfish, mobulas and sea lions.

4) Check out the aerial view. The best way to get an overall appreciation for the natural beauty of Cabo San Lucas is to see it from the air. Helicopter tours will show you the Bay area, the storied Arch, Cabo San Lucas Marina, the Sea Lion’s Colony and the world-renowned beaches famous for their breathtaking beauty. Parasailing is popular too over Cabo’s pristine, icy-blue ocean.

5) Visit La Candelaria. This quaint Mexican village is just 20 miles north of Cabo San Lucas, and well worth the journey. From lush vegetation and scenic views, to local artists and authentic Mexican cuisine, visiting La Candelaria ensures you leave Cabo with a real feel for how the locals live 365 days a year.

As these activities will prove, Cabo San Lucas is one of the world’s hottest spots for fine food, warm waters and scenic views.
